Med Marine is Expanding Its Design Portfolio With New Robert Allan Designs

Turkey’s leading tugboat operator and shipbuilder Med Marine is pleased to announce that a new design contract was signed with Canadian top tug designer Robert Allan Ltd. last week. The contract is for RAstar 3200-W series tugs with Z-drive type propulsion.

The 32m tugs will feature a bollard pull of 85 and 90 tonnes, and will be able to perform all ship-handling roles; such as berthing, unberthing, and escort duties, in normal and heavy weather conditions.

The design has the following particulars:

BEAM (MOULDED)                                   13,2 m

DEPTH (MOULDED)                                  5,45 m

DRAFT (MAX)                                              6,10 m

SPEED                                                           13 knots

FUEL OIL CAP.                                            190 m3

FRESH WATER CAP.                                 40 m3

The design offers two accommodation options for 8 or 10 persons. The climate-controlled accommodation space includes a captain’s cabin, an officer cabin and either four double crew cabins or two double-two single crew cabins.

The makers list and class notations will be shared in the near future.

Currently, Med Marine has a busy new building programme consisting of various types of Robert Allan designed ASD tug boats, Camarc design pilot boats and Tomay design mooring boats. Med Marine is constantly expanding its design portfolio with the entry of high-quality designs suitable for different and diverse customer needs.
