RMK MARINE Shipyard, a subsidiary company to Koç Holding, one of the largest and most successful groups in Turkey and in the Region, and the only Turkish company to be listed in Fortune Global 500 list, has furthered its place in the tugboat segment by receiving an order for 2×70 TbP tugboats from a local client.

RMK MARINE had realised a workboat project including 5 boats in 2008-2009 and another workboat project including a total of 2 tugboats, 2 service boats and 5 mooring boats in 2005-2016 for the same client previously. As a continuation of the client’s satisfaction, RMK MARINE has been recently placed another order which includes 2 powerful tugboats having 70 TbP power each.

The vessel is a proven Robert Allan’s RAmparts 2500-SD Tugboat designed and sold globally. ASD type high-quality vessel is designed for harbour and terminal operations, and coastal towing. She has the length of 25,40m, the beam of 11,80 m and the depth of 4,6m. A pair of powerful MTU 16V4000M63L diesel engines develops a total output of 2 x 2.240 kW at 1.800 rpm with a free sailing speed of 12.0 knots  and bollard pull of 70 tons.

Two Margen gensets provide a total of 2 x 140 ekW electrical power for vessel services, including the deck machinery. Each of the vessels is driven by two Rolls Royce Azimuth Thrusters US 255 CP with controllable pitch propellers of 2,600 mm diameter.

Two main Diesel-driven fire-fighting (FiFi) pumps for the tug’s FiFi 1 system is mounted on the main engines and can deliver 2 x 1350 m3/hour to two electrically-controlled monitors with a 2 x 1200 m3/hour capacity.

Data Hidrolik supplied one hydraulic fore towing winch and one hydraulic aft towing winch as well. Both winches have 45 t pulling capacity and 180 t brake capacity.The RAmparts 2500 SD tugboats are compliant with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) with high-quality and great-comfort accommodation, a captain’s cabin, an officer cabin and two double crew cabins
