Sanmar proud to have helped develop model selected by Canada

In a recent press release issued by Robert Allan Limited it was stated that the new tug design selected by Canada’s Department of National Defence for four new 24m vessels to be built in Quebec follows :” …the design which has been built in large numbers  by Sanmar Shipyards in Turkey.”

In fact the model concerned is currently the most popular ASD tug type in Sanmar’s extensive portfolio and is the Class designated by the Turkish specialist builder as the Bogacay Series. Although an exclusive design specially commissioned by Sanmar from Robert Allan Limited, this model features the builders’ own considerable input as an experienced operator in its own right. Now this has been further augmented by operational experience from nearly 40 examples delivered by the specialist tugbuilding company all around the world. “This feedback is proving invaluable,” says project director, Ali Gurun. “Not only that, the Bogacay Series is very much based on our earlier model, the Ulupinar Class. We are extremely proud that Canada’s Department of National Defence is taking advantage of our experience and expertise.”
