TORGEM Shipyard to build a 25 mtr ASD FiFi tug

On 17th August 2020 Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) and Tor Group International signed a contract for a Design and Material Supply Package. The contract will see KS&EW constructing a 48 Tons BP Tug with TOR support.

Tor Group International will deliver the contract through the TORGEM Shipyard in Turkey. At the signing ceremony, Commodore Muhammad Jahanzeb Ahsan SI(M) highlighted that relations between the two brotherly nations date back generations even before the establishment of the two states. He said that “We share historical Islamic ties and enjoy close cultural and military relations which are now facilitating deepening economic relations as we both seek to develop our economies. We also enjoy the confidence and gracious attitude of ordinary Turks, who refer to Pakistanis as “Kardeşler” (“brothers” in Turkish).” He was confident that this agreement between the TOR Group and KS&EW will reap significant benefits and open further opportunities for cooperation in the field of shipbuilding.

TOR Group’s CEO, Mustafa Kemal Torlak said that the 48 Tons BP Tug is a proven, standardized design featuring “excellent seakeeping behaviour, superb manoeuvrability and outstanding towing characteristics”. He further highlighted his desire to build on this new business relationship. “The links between our Nations are clear, built on friendship and trust. It is right that we explore every opportunity to mutually strengthen our economic ties. This is an auspicious contract signing and we look forward to further developing the partnership with our brothers in KS&EW.”
