SANMAR Built Tug En Route to German Operator H. Schramm Towage

A Sanmar delivery team are taking a powerful new harbour tug on its maiden voyage from Turkiye to Germany where it will be delivered to German operator H. Schramm Towage.

Named BO after the three-year-old godson of H. Schramm Towage owner Hans Helmut Schramm, the tug has been built to the excusive-to-Sanmar TRAktor-Z 2500SX design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan.

Powered by two high-speed, electronically controlled, EPA Tier lll and IMO Tier ll compliant CAT 3516C HD D-rated marine diesel engines, BO can achieve an impressive 75-ton bollard pull and free running speed of 12 knots.

Measuring 25.3m LOA, with a moulded beam of 12m, BO has been designed for escort, ship-handling, or terminal support duties and has Fi-Fi 1 fire-fighting capability.

H. Schramm Towage mainly operates at the intersection of river Elbe, North Sea, Baltic Sea, and Kiel Canal, and BO will join its operations at Brunsbüttel at the mouth of the Elbe and western end of the Kiel Canal.

Known as Deliçay XlV while under construction at Sanmar’s purpose-built environmentally-friendly Altinova Shipyard in the heart of the Turkish maritime sector, BO is the sixth tugboat that Sanmar has delivered to Schramm. It joins CORVIN, a 45-ton bollard-pull twin screw tug delivered in 2005, TORSTEN a flattop Navtug delivered in 2012, and SÖNKE, a 71-ton bollard-pull ATD tugboat delivered in 2020.

Ipek Gurun, Corporate Strategy Director of Sanmar Shipyards, said: “Our Deliçay range continues to be extremely popular among operators and is evolving all the time to utilise latest technologies and meet individual operator’s specific needs. As with all our clients, we have worked closely with H. Schramm Towage throughout the development of this project.

“The fact that it is our delivery team that is taking BO to Germany underlines the fact that we at Sanmar are with you all the way from the drawing board to the delivery of your new tug.”
